Real projects. Real outcomes.

A few examples of what working with me looks like. Admin support, inbox detoxes, email migrations, Google Workspace setups, and website fixes for small business owners who’d rather not be doing this stuff themselves.

Admin Support

The faceless person handling the front end

The situation.

Marco runs a business in London and was getting buried in client communication, diary management, and the admin that comes with both. The kind of work that keeps a business running but eats the hours you should be spending on actual work. Or with your family.

What I do.

  • Handle all client communication on his behalf
  • Manage the diary and book appointments
  • Sort the admin that comes attached to both
  • Stay invisible to his clients so it feels like the business is talking to them, not a third party

The outcome.

Four months in and counting. Marco gets time back to spend on the business and at home, his clients get someone responsive, and nobody has to know there’s a faceless person making it all run. That’s the job done well.

★★★★★
“Rory has been supporting me with my business admin for around 4 months and my business is in a better place because of it. You give me precious time back which I spend with my family. Happy wife, happy life!”
Marco, London
Inbox Detox

From 17,000 unread to under control

The situation.

Sheila came to me with over 17,000 unread emails. She wanted help clearing it down and a way to keep it from getting back to that point.

What I did.

  • Talked it through first. What was worth keeping, what could go, what she didn’t want touched
  • Worked through the volume methodically so nothing important got missed
  • Cleared the backlog in a fraction of the time a manual sort would have taken
  • Walked her through some habits for keeping on top of it

The outcome.

An inbox that’s actually usable. From 17,000+ unread to a handful, and Sheila left with the tools to keep it that way.

★★★★★
“I can’t fault Rory. He was polite and helpful and totally not judgemental about my 17,000+ unread emails. Communicated with me about what I wanted to keep. Amazed by the outcome.”

Rescuing a host migration gone sideways

The situation.

Nikki had decided to move her site to a new host. What should have been routine turned into “error chaos.” Things broke that shouldn’t have. Then more things broke when updates rolled through.

What I did.

  • Worked through the post-migration errors one by one and fixed them
  • Got things stable, then back-fixed the new errors that came up after updates
  • Stayed available across a couple of weeks while the dust settled
  • Communicated clearly throughout so she always knew what was happening

The outcome.

A working website that stayed working. Nikki’s flagged that she’ll be back when she next loses the will to live with tech.

★★★★★
“I decided to change hosts and stumbled into what can only be described as error chaos! Rory came to the rescue so many times over the space of a couple of weeks. Professional, communicates concisely, and nothing was ever too much hassle.”

Email Migration

Two IONOS mailboxes moved to Google

The situation.

Beth was running two business mailboxes through IONOS and wanted to move them to Google Workspace. The kind of job that sounds straightforward until you realise it involves DNS changes, authentication records, and a window where things can go wrong. The kind of job most VAs would send elsewhere.

What I did.

  • Set up the mailboxes in Google Workspace
  • Migrated existing email and contacts from IONOS
  • Updated MX records to route email to Google
  • Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC so deliverability works correctly
  • Tested before, during and after the cutover

The outcome.

Both mailboxes moved cleanly with no downtime and no lost messages. Beth has business email running on Google Workspace with domain authentication in place, so emails reach inboxes rather than spam folders.

Picking up a stalled website project

One-page website on desktop
One-page website on mobile

The situation.

TJ had started building her own website but it had become a sticking point. She wanted something clean and professional, without the stress, delays or inflated costs that often come with web projects. She also wanted to walk away owning the site so she could manage it herself.

What I did.

  • Picked up where she’d got stuck and built her a clean one-page site, hand-coded in PHP rather than dropped into a builder
  • Included a built-in editor so she can update her own copy any time, without needing me or a website builder subscription
  • Set up a feedback and review system so client testimonials show on the site automatically
  • Handed everything over with full ownership and a walkthrough

The outcome.

TJ launched with a site that looks the part, works on every device, and is hers to run. No platform lock-in, no monthly fees beyond hosting.

★★★★★
“Working with Rory on my website was one of the best decisions I made for my business. No overcomplicating things, no wasted time - just clear communication, practical advice, and a finished result that genuinely works for my business. Reliable, skilled and genuinely helpful. I’d recommend him without hesitation.”
